When your child’s breathing is urgent, but not an emergency
If your child is struggling to breathe, too breathless to speak or drink, has blue lips or grey skin, is very drowsy, hard to wake or you can see the skin pulling in around the ribs when they breathe, go directly to Emergency or call 000.
If your child has a worsening or persistent cough, mild wheeze, heavy chest or their breathing feels harder after a cold, they need medical care before it becomes an emergency situation.
