On-site Imaging and Pathology
X-ray, CT, ultrasound and pathology can be arranged on site if required during your child’s assessment, and bulk billed for Medicare card holders.
One Visit for Sick Siblings
Siblings with the same symptoms can be assessed and treated under one consultation fee.

Children can become unwell quickly, and it is not easy to know if symptoms can wait. SmartCare UrgentCare can assess urgent, non-life-threatening concerns like:
- Fever that is persistent, hard to manage or worrying you
- Cough, wheeze or mild to moderate breathing symptoms
- Ear pain, sore throat, flu symptoms or swollen glands
- Vomiting, diarrhoea or early signs of dehydration
- A child drinking less, feeding poorly or weeing less than usual
- Sudden rashes, skin infections or mild allergic reactions
- Abdominal pain that is concerning but not severe
- Cuts, wounds or lacerations needing attention
- Minor burns, bites or skin injuries
- Falls, sports injuries, sprains or strains
- Head bumps where your child is alert and otherwise stable

Look and listen to their breathing, notice alertness, fluid intake, urine output, pain, temperature and if they seem unusually drowsy or distressed.

Yes, mild to moderate cough, wheeze or asthma symptoms can be assessed. Go directly to Emergency if your child has severe breathing difficulty with signs such as:
- Skin sucking in around the ribs, chest, neck or throat
- Grunting, noisy breathing or working hard with each breath
- Blue, grey or very pale lips, face or skin
- Too breathless to speak, cry, drink or feed
- Drowsy, floppy, confused or hard to wake
- Pauses in breathing, gasping or breathing that looks jerky or uneven
X-ray, CT and ultrasound are available on site if required during your child’s assessment. Diagnostics are bulk billed for eligible Medicare card holders.
No. Consultations at SmartCare UrgentCare are privately billed. On-site diagnostics (imaging and pathology) are bulk billed for eligible Medicare card holders if required for assessment.
Yes. SmartCare UrgentCare can assess vomiting, diarrhoea and early dehydration, including children who are drinking less, weeing less or struggling to keep fluids down.
Yes. SmartCare UrgentCare can assess sprains, strains, suspected fractures, cuts, head bumps and sports injuries that are urgent but not life-threatening.
If your child needs higher-level or life-threatening care, the team will advise you. Go directly to Emergency or call 000 if your child has severe breathing difficulty, is hard to wake, has a seizure, has blue lips or grey skin or seems seriously unwell.
When to go directly to the Emergency Department
Go directly to your nearest Emergency Department or call 000 if your child has:
- Severe breathing difficulty
- Blue lips, grey skin or severe drowsiness
- A seizure, unconsciousness or is hard to wake
- Severe dehydration, such as little to no urination, extreme weakness or inability to keep fluids down
- A baby under 6 months with a fever of 38°C or higher
- Major trauma or serious head injury
- Severe abdominal pain
- A severe allergic reaction, facial or throat swelling or trouble breathing
- Uncontrollable bleeding
- A serious burn
- Symptoms that feel unsafe to manage outside hospital
