When to go directly to the Emergency Department
Go directly to your nearest Emergency Department or call 000 if you have:
- Loss of bladder or bowel control with back pain
- Numbness around the groin, buttocks or saddle area
- Sudden weakness, paralysis or difficulty walking
- Severe pain with the presence of fever, confusion or sudden deterioration
- Major trauma, fall from height or high-speed injury
- Bone visible through the skin or a visibly deformed limb
- Uncontrollable bleeding or a limb that is cold, pale, blue or numb
- Chest pain, severe abdominal pain or symptoms that feel unsafe
